I tell my clients this all the time, and it couldn’t be more true—there are three key elements that shape the look and feel of your session: clothing, location, and time of day. Each one plays a crucial role in creating the soft, natural, and timeless images my clients love. By carefully curating these details, I ensure that every session results in breathtaking family photography in Dallas.
Wardrobe: Setting the Tone for Your Session
What you wear directly impacts the aesthetic and emotion of your photos. Thoughtfully chosen outfits help create a cohesive, effortless look.
✔ Stick to Neutrals & Soft Tones – Shades like ivory, beige, soft whites, and pastels photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your family’s connection.
✔ Moms, Choose Your Outfit First – Start with your look, then coordinate the rest of the family around it for a polished, harmonious style.
✔ Empty Those Pockets – Keys, phones, and other items create distracting bulges and wrinkles. Keep them out of sight for a clean, refined look.
Location: Finding the Perfect Backdrop
If we’re not shooting in my studio, I love capturing families in open, sunlit locations right at golden hour. These spots offer a dreamy glow and an airy feel that enhances the warmth of your portraits. If your heart is set on a busier location, I may suggest a sunrise session to avoid crowds and distractions.
Timing: The Magic of Golden Hour
Lighting is everything in photography, and sunrise and sunset are hands-down the best times for capturing that soft, flattering glow. Sunset, in particular, wraps around my clients beautifully, creating warmth and depth without the harsh contrast of mid-day light.
Thoughtfully planning what you wear, where we shoot, and when we capture your session will make all the difference in bringing your vision to life. Let’s create something beautiful together—your family’s story, told through timeless, heartfelt images.
