Why We’re Moving Back to Texas & What’s Next for KMP

“Boxes became my constant companions, each house a temporary heartbeat. I built homes with one hand holding a child, the other gripping resilience.”

As some of you know, we made the move from Texas to Michigan to be closer to my in-laws. Unfortunately, in the last three years, my husband has now lost both of his parents. Life has a funny way of coming full circle, though, and while I have absolutely fallen in love with Traverse City—its breathtaking beauty, the warm-hearted people, my cozy home, my dream studio, and, most of all, my incredible clients—Michigan’s seasonality presents its own set of challenges. The winters here are long, and while my daughter and I can soak up every bit of summer, my husband’s career is tied to a more seasonal schedule, making it difficult for him to enjoy those same moments with us.

After a lot of heartfelt discussions (and maybe a few tears), we’ve made the difficult decision to move back to Texas this spring.

What This Means for My Clients

I know this news might come as a surprise, but before you panic, please know that I am not leaving my Michigan clients behind. Photography has given me the opportunity to build deep, lasting connections with so many incredible families here, and I have no plans to walk away from that. Here’s how things will look moving forward:

• I will be traveling back frequently for sessions! During peak months, I’ll be returning to Traverse City to photograph my clients, so if you’ve been dreaming of a session, you’ll still have plenty of opportunities to book with me.
• I’m bringing on amazing associate photographers. My trusted team members will be available for sessions when I’m not in town, ensuring my signature style and experience remain consistent.
• I’ll be sharing travel dates in advance. You’ll have ample time to plan ahead and secure your session while I’m in Michigan. My goal is to make this transition as seamless as possible for all my wonderful clients here.

A New Chapter in Dallas

While this move is bittersweet, I am beyond excited to reconnect with my Texas families and continue growing my business as an Dallas Baby Photographer. Texas holds so many special memories for me, and I can’t wait to capture beautiful moments for new and returning clients.
